SWEETS

Ingredients (for about 28 pieces)

  • 200 g dark chocolate

  • 400 g butter or margarine

  • 450 g sugar

  • 2 packets vanilla sugar

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 8 eggs (size M)

  • 500 g flour

  • 1 packet baking powder

  • 6–7 tbsp milk

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 2 kg strawberries

  • 1–2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 3 packets red cake glaze

Instructions

Marble Batter

  1. Roughly chop the chocolate and melt it over a warm water bath.

  2. Beat butter, 250 g sugar, 1 packet vanilla sugar, and salt until creamy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring in 1 tbsp of flour after each.

  4. Mix the remaining flour with baking powder and milk, then add to the batter.

  5. Divide the dough in half — stir cocoa powder and melted chocolate into one half.

  6. Grease a baking sheet (34 × 40 cm) and dust with flour. Spread the light batter evenly, spoon the dark batter on top, and swirl through the mixture with a fork to create a marble effect.

  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350°F) for about 25 minutes. Let the cake cool completely for about 2 hours.

Strawberry Layer

  1. Wash and hull about 300 g of strawberries, then puree them. Mix with 75 g sugar, 1 packet vanilla sugar, and lemon juice.

  2. Cut the remaining strawberries into small pieces.

  3. Spread the strawberry puree and strawberry pieces evenly over the cooled marble cake base.

Cake Glaze

  1. Combine cake glaze powder and 125 g sugar. Prepare according to package instructions using 750 ml water.

  2. Bring to a boil while stirring, let it cool slightly, then pour evenly over the strawberries.

  3. Chill for at least 2 hours, then cut into pieces and serve.

Tips for Beginners

  • Marbling: Gently swirl the batter with a fork — avoid overmixing to keep the pattern visible.

  • Fruity Variations: Try raspberries or cherries instead of strawberries for a twist.

  • Quick Version: Skip the puree and just use sliced fruit with the glaze for a faster prep.
