  2. Make the dough: Add flour, salt, egg, and butter to a bowl. Pour in the yeast mixture and knead for 5–8 minutes. Add a little flour if too sticky.

  3. Let the dough rise: Cover and rest in a warm place for about 1.5 hours.

  4. Add chocolate: Place dough on a floured surface, knead in chocolate chips, shape into a roll, and cut into 10 pieces.

  5. Prepare baking dish: Grease a dish, roll dough pieces into balls, place them inside, and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  6. Bake: Mix yolk with milk, brush buns. Bake at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) for about 25 minutes until golden.

  7. Serve: Let cool briefly or enjoy warm.

  • Perfect dough: Use lukewarm milk only – too hot kills the yeast.

  • Variations: Try milk or white chocolate instead of dark.

  • Shape: Can also be baked individually on a baking tray.

  • Storage: Keeps fresh 2 days, suitable for freezing.
